For Persephone

The words have always stumbled from my mouth
Like drunken soldiers
Returning to place daisies on the eyes of the fallen
We dance on graves because we don’t remember where we came from
We drink to forget, numb we are nothing
We strike back at unseen enemies
Not knowing they are our mother, lover, brother, friend
And in our dreams they are alive
Healthy and free
Sending messages to get lost at sea
Lost in the cosmos, buried under ground
Under dark dark clouds
While we sleep the deep sleep
Daisies on our eyes.
